Volunteer Resource Center
Mission Statement:
Walworth County recognizes that people in the community can make great contributions as volunteers in
local government. The county supports and encourages the use of volunteers, when and where it is
feasible and appropriate, to enhance and expand the work of county staff.

There are many volunteer/intern opportunities offered
by Walworth County departments and programs. You can make a difference.
Lakeland School:
- Assist in the library
- Be a classroom aid
- Be a swimming pool assistant
- Be a computer lab assistant
Lakeland Health Care Center:
- Be a therapy or activity assistant
- Lead activities
- Go on outings and shopping trips with residents
- Bring in well behaved pets
- Be a friendly visitor
- Share a talent with residents
- Help with landscape maintenance
- Lead worship services
- Provide music or entertainment
- Escort residents to in house therapy or clinics

Department of Health and Human Services Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC):
- Be a senior dining center volunteer
- Be a “meals on wheels” volunteer
- Be a senior visitor
- Be a Medicare Minute volunteer
- Assist during Medicare part D open enrollment
- Be a court appointed guardian
Department of Health and Human Services
(Children’s Division):
- Educational Mentor to juveniles
- Assist with clerical duties
- Oversee and support juveniles needing community service hours
- Provide childcare during foster parent training throughout the year
Public Health:
- Assist with immunization clinics, hand out forms and line numbers
- Clerical support and afternoon receptionist
- Assist with PH staff with health care emergencies and disasters,
become part of the Walworth County Medical Reserve Corp.
Land Use and Resource Management:
- Assist with a large scanning project and clerical work
UW-Extension Office:
- Be 4-H leaders/fair assistants
- Be a master gardener/assist with gardening/planting programs
with nursing home residents and Lakeland School students
- Help with office mailings and newsletters
- Be a Financial Coach and help families and individuals reach financial goals, mandatory training available
Clerk of Circuit Courts or District Attorney's Office
- Assist with clerical duties such as filing, sorting, delivering mail,and more
Sheriff’s Office or Jail:
- Minister to inmates
- Be part of the literacy council
- Assist with clerical duties as needed
Public Works
- Join us for volunteer work days at the county parks, held several times a year
- Clerical support
Treasurer’s Office:
- Help with short term projects during property tax
time and at different times of the year
Other departments need help with clerical duties
at different times of the year.
