Walworth County has many great beaches. However, during the summer months, when beaches are being used the most, dangerous levels of E. coli bacteria can develop in the water. This may be from naturally occurring bacteria in warm water, run-off from roads and farm fields, or fecal waste from waterfowl or other animals.
Walworth County public beaches are tested weekly from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Private beaches may obtain a water sample kit to test their water quality. For more information, contact Public Health.
