Nancy Russell, who served as the Walworth County Board Chairperson from 2007 to 2022, passed away at home on July 2, 2022, at the age of 86 from complications of recurrent lymphoma.

Nancy was first elected to the County Board in 2002. She was only the second woman to ever hold the position and was also the County’s longest-serving Board Chair.

Nancy was an ardent supporter of Walworth County parks and open spaces and played an integral role in the acquisition of White River County Park. In a memo addressed to the County Board of Supervisors, current County Board Chair Rick Stacey noted that Nancy’s many accomplishments also included providing leadership in the replacement of County buildings and the elimination of the County’s debt.

Nancy was laid to rest at a private family graveside service. She asked that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations in her name to the Aurora at Home Hospice Care
