Get Back to Nature - Volunteer for the Natureland Park Work Day

Walworth County Public Works is seeking volunteers for its final park work day of the year on Friday, November 18, from 9 to 11 a.m. Volunteers will assist Kettle Moraine Land Trust and Walworth County Public Works with the removal of buckthorn and other invasive plant species at Natureland County Park, W8338 Territorial Rd. in Whitewater. Volunteers should dress appropriately and be ready to have fun, get dirty, and enjoy a few hours in the great outdoors.

National Family Volunteer Day Event at Lakeland Health Care Center

Help deck the Lakeland Health Care Center (LHCC) halls for the holidays and spread holiday cheer by volunteering at the Family Volunteer Day event on Saturday, November 19, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Volunteers and residents will make holiday crafts and decorations to display throughout the facility during the holiday season. Children age 8 and older are invited to participate with their caregivers. Face masks are required for anyone entering the facility. Those interested in volunteering should contact Walworth County Volunteer Services Coordinator Colleen Lesniak at (262) 741-4223, clesniak@co.walworth.wi.us. LHCC is also seeking donations of holiday candy for residents. Donations may be dropped off at the front desk Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A Class Act: UW-Extension's Clover University Offers Candy Making, Model Railroading Classes for Kids

Kids in grades 3 and up can build new skills or try out a new hobby through UW-Extension's Clover University classes on Tuesday, November 15, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Walworth County Government Center, 100 W. Walworth St., Elkhorn. Kids can choose one 90-minute class or two 45-minute classes, which include candy making, model railroading, propagating succulents, introduction to child development, and crafting cardboard yarn animals. Cost varies by class, and some classes have limited space. Pre-register by November 10 at go.wisc.edu/xgcx1i.
Walworth County Suicide Prevention and Resource Awareness Event

Join the Walworth County Suicide Prevention & Resource Awareness Coalition for a conversation with fellow Walworth County community leaders and suicide prevention advocates as we continue to work together to break the stigma surrounding suicide, raise awareness, and elevate resources. The event will take place on Thursday, November 17, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., at the Elkhorn Chamber of Commerce, 203 E. Walworth Street, Elkhorn. RSVP at wcsuicideprevention@gmail.com.
Veterans Day Community Events

Support our local veterans at one of these community events:
- Geneva Lakes VFW Post 2373 will host its annual Veterans Day Ceremony at Edgewater Park in Williams Bay on November 11, at 11 a.m. The keynote speaker will be Post Commander Ron Grabski. Williams Bay High School freshman Lauren Schnobel will read “In Flanders Fields.”
- Lake Geneva Middle School’s annual Veterans Day Celebration will take place on November 11, starting at 9:30 a.m., in the Lake Geneva Middle School gym. Patriotic music performed by the school’s orchestras and bands, colors posted by the American Legion Post 24 Color Guard.
- East Troy Loomis-Martin American Legion Post 188 will host a Veterans Day Ceremony on November 11 at 11 a.m. Post 188 is located at 2870 School Street in East Troy.
